From an Idea to the Big Stage
It’s no secret that many of our Thomann employees have music in their blood. A passion for music runs through every department of the company. So, it’s no wonder that bands are constantly forming in Treppendorf. Among them is our BigTBand, which, after many internal performances, is now getting an audience off the Thomann campus dancing for the first time. They will have their first public performance on August 9th at the 2025 German-British Hot Air Balloon Championship in Burgebrach.
The story began in December 2023 at the legendary annual Thomann Christmas Party. Trumpeter and bandleader Klaus Wangorsch thrilled the crowd with his own formation, sparking a decision from our COO, Markus Neser: “We need something like that too!” Well-connected and convinced of the potential, he assembled a troupe of music-loving colleagues. The first rehearsal, with employees from all corners of the company, took place as early as January 2024. Whether seasoned hobbyists or professionally trained musicians, they were all united by one thing: a shared passion for music.
“We make music ’cause it’s our thing.”
Since then, the members of the BigTBand—who by day advise our customers, repair instruments, or fine-tune the latest marketing campaigns—have been meeting to rehearse in their free time. Their first major performance wasn’t long in coming. At the internal Thomann Summer Party, they took to the stage in a classic big band lineup: four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, a rhythm section with piano, guitar, bass, drums, and percussion, plus vocals. From complex, sophisticated arrangements to songs that pull the audience straight onto the dance floor, they offered it all. The sound? Funky, modern, groovy, and full of energy. Somewhere between “Tower of Power,” traditional big band, and danceable pop.
Room for Passion and Growth
It was almost inevitable that such a passion project would develop from the talented employees of Europe’s largest music store. Our CEO, Hans, has long wished for our own brass band—”we have such great people!” Now, there’s a big band. And they are good, authentic, and energetic.
The BigTBand was born out of passion. How far it will go and what else will come of it remains to be seen. On the Treppendorf campus, anything is possible as long as there are people with ideas and enthusiasm. Because at Thomann, music isn’t just heard and felt in the store, packed into our parcels, or blasting from the speakers in the t.kitchen. Music is in us. It is our daily life. Music is our passion.
Are we biased? Maybe. Why not come and see for yourself? Join us on August 9th in Burgebrach and be convinced by our BigTBand!
