19 new apprentices start their careers at Thomann
On 1 September, 19 young people began a new chapter in their lives – with a new workplace, new colleagues and a new routine that will shape the years ahead. Starting their apprenticeships at Thomann marks the beginning of a time filled with learning, hands-on experience and opportunities to find their own path.
They are training with us in office management, retail, warehouse logistics and product photography. Before joining their respective departments, they spent two action-packed weeks together.
The first day in Treppendorf
You can’t start a new chapter on an empty stomach. That’s why the first day began with a relaxed breakfast together in our t.kitchen. Over bread rolls, muesli, coffee and tea, our new apprentices had time to settle in, make their first connections and try to remember as many new names as possible.
Next, our Director Sales Flo, CHRO Manfred and Apprenticeships Lead Rebecca officially welcomed the new apprentices at the welcome event. They also met our Confidants Team and the apprentice representatives from the more senior apprenticeship years. After a round of introductions and a few team games, the ice was quickly broken. Lunch offered plenty of time to share first impressions – and discreetly double-check one or two names.
The grand campus tour
Shop, Service Center, Administration, Logistics – there’s plenty to discover when you’re new to Thomann. Tours of the different areas gave the apprentices a closer look at our campus, the teams and tasks behind Thomann, and how everything works together. Along the way, they also had the chance to memorise the most important routes. At least in theory.
Workplace safety training was also part of the programme. At the get-together afterwards, the apprentices met their trainers, asked their first questions and got to know the people who will support them both professionally and personally over the coming years.
First aid and real team spirit
Our new apprentices are now also well prepared for emergencies. During a full-day first-aid course, they learned how to respond quickly and correctly, both on campus and anywhere else. A useful bonus: the course also counts towards a driving licence.
After taking in so much new information, it was time to experience something together. For the apprentice outing organised by HR working student Julia, the group first headed to Bamberg for some team games before continuing to Baunach Lake. The raft-building challenge called for real teamwork: sharing ideas, dividing up tasks, getting stuck in together and hoping the plan wouldn’t fall apart once it hit the water. The day ended with dinner at Sternla Brauhaus, bringing the first two weeks of their apprenticeships to a relaxed close.
Ready to join in
After two weeks, not every name may be firmly memorised and not every route across campus fully mastered. But the first connections have been made, key contacts are known and a group has formed from all those new faces, ready to begin their apprenticeships together.
A start like this takes a great deal of planning, organization and personal commitment. A big thank you therefore goes to Head of Apprenticeships Rebecca, who supported the new arrivals and will continue to be there for our apprentices with advice, practical help and an open ear throughout the years ahead. Thank you also to Julia for organizing the outing, and to all the trainers and teams who took the time to share insights and make their arrival such a success.
And to our 19 new colleagues: it’s great to have you with us. We look forward to supporting you as you learn, explore and grow and we can’t wait to see the difference you’ll make at Thomann.
