New Building: Logistics Headquarters

Where Music Is Sent Out into the World

We spread music. And our logistics department takes that quite literally—sending out over 35,000 packages a day, packed with musical dreams, on their way to customers all over the world. To make this possible, given the sheer volume of orders and the diversity of our products, our logistics are constantly evolving. With our newly opened Logistics Headquarters in the northern part of Treppendorf—affectionately nicknamed “North-North” by our team—we at Thomann have taken another big step forward in optimizing our logistics processes. A completely new and modern building has been created here, offering not just more space but above all new opportunities for collaboration and efficiency among our employees.

For the first time, there is now a central logistics office, where colleagues with administrative roles can work together and host business partners. This facilitates direct communication and shortens information pathways. Additionally, modern meeting rooms have been created that serve as spaces for training and teamwork. Employee well-being has also been a priority: a modern kitchen and a spacious break area invite relaxation and socializing. The interior design was handled by the company Greb Wohnwork, who impressed us with their attention to detail and an open, welcoming concept. The result is a work environment where we truly feel at home. The open space concept offers a variety of work options and maximum flexibility for different needs. A special highlight is the hybrid room, which—with writable partition walls, mobile furniture, and a practical tiered seating area—enables dynamic and creative meeting formats. The decorative wall designs were created by the firm Remise3, in collaboration with our Employer Branding Team. Together, they brought to life the vision of our Head of Logistics, Max Molkenthin (CLO), to incorporate our company values and history throughout the entire space. Every room offers a visual journey through Thomann’s history—from Hans Thomann Sr. delivering products on his motorcycle, to a dancing Elvis Presley above the coffee machine, to countless graphic elements that cleverly hide small details.

In addition to the offices, “North-North” also houses storage areas, operational logistics, delivery and dispatch zones, as well as equipment for outdoor maintenance. The seamless integration of warehouse, administration, and recreational spaces under one roof makes “North-North” a vital part of our logistics infrastructure.

From Treppendorf to the World

What shines today as a state-of-the-art logistics hub in “North-North” has a long history. Thomann began over 60 years ago as a small family-run business and has since grown to become the world’s largest e-commerce company for instruments and music equipment. Logistics has played a key role from the very beginning: Only through fast, reliable, and customer-focused shipping processes can we deliver our huge product range to millions of customers around the globe.

Over the years, our logistics operations in Treppendorf have steadily expanded—”up the hill”—through constant upgrades and extensions. Back in 2017, we opened a new central logistics center that significantly reduced throughput times thanks to cutting-edge robotics and software. Today, up to 35,000 packages are shipped daily from Treppendorf to more than 140 countries. The warehouse holds around 120,000 different products, about 80,000 pallets, and features a conveyor system stretching over 12 kilometers in total.

Constant investment in new technologies, building infrastructure, and modern workspaces is essential to maintain our top-level customer service and build a logistics system that is not only efficient but also future-ready. The construction of “North-North” marks a new chapter—one that gives our employees, the true driving force behind our logistics, a better and more optimized workday. Because, in the end, they are the ones who bring music into the world.
